🐕 Dog Bite Categories – WHO Classification
Rabies Exposure Classification & Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP)
Category I No Exposure
क्या शामिल है:
- कुत्ते को छूना या खिलाना
- साबुत त्वचा पर चाटना (No break in skin)
Treatment:
- ❌ Anti-Rabies Vaccine नहीं
- ❌ Rabies Immunoglobulin (RIG) नहीं
- ✅ केवल Reassurance
Category II Minor Exposure
क्या शामिल है:
- Nibbling of uncovered skin
- Superficial scratches / abrasions
- Skin breach बिना bleeding
Treatment:
- ✅ Anti-Rabies Vaccine (ARV)
- ❌ Rabies Immunoglobulin (RIG) नहीं
Category III Severe Exposure
क्या शामिल है:
- Transdermal bite या scratch (खून के साथ)
- टूटी त्वचा पर चाटना
- Mucous membrane exposure (आँख, मुँह)
- Face, neck, head, fingers, genital area पर bite
- Bat exposure
Treatment:
- ✅ Anti-Rabies Vaccine (ARV)
- ✅ Rabies Immunoglobulin (RIG)
🩺 Important Clinical Points
- Category II और III में तुरंत wound washing (कम से कम 15 मिनट साबुन और पानी से) अनिवार्य
- Category II exposure में अगर bleeding हो जाए तो उसे Category III माना जाएगा
- पहले से vaccinated व्यक्ति में:
- ❌ RIG नहीं दिया जाता
- ✅ केवल 2 booster doses (Day 0 & Day 3)
⚠️ Note: Rabies एक 100% fatal लेकिन 100% preventable disease है,
यदि सही समय पर सही Category के अनुसार इलाज किया जाए।
